Restorative Dentistry Lake Mary, FL
Restorative dentistry repairs what decay, wear or injury has taken away, with the least removal of tooth structure that will do the job.
Fillings, crowns and bridges all restore a tooth or replace a missing one. The choice depends on how much tooth is left, where it sits in the bite and how long the repair needs to last. We explain the trade-offs, including when a simpler repair is better than a more extensive one.
Who this is for
- A tooth with decay, a broken cusp or a failing filling
- A tooth that has had root canal treatment and needs protection
- A gap left by a missing tooth
- An old crown or bridge that is loose, worn or no longer sealing
Restorative Dentistry Lake Mary – What the Visit Involves
- Examination and X-rays to see the extent of the damage
- A discussion of the options, including monitoring if it is safe to wait
- Treatment under local anaesthetic, with the tooth shaped and restored
- A check of the bite before you leave, and a review if needed
Options we may discuss
Composite filling
Direct repair for small to moderate decay.
Crown – Restorative Dentistry Lake Mary
Covers and protects a tooth that is significantly weakened.
Bridge
Replaces a missing tooth using the neighbouring teeth for support.
Onlay or Referral
For complex rebuilding, or when specialist care is better.
What affects the cost
A filling costs less than a crown, and a crown costs less than an implant-supported replacement. We explain why a particular option is being recommended and what happens if you choose a different one. PPO benefit paperwork is submitted for you where it applies.
Aftercare and maintenance
Restorations can chip or loosen, especially in heavy bites. Tell us if something feels high or sharp rather than waiting for the next check-up. Good hygiene around the margins is what keeps repaired teeth stable.
Restorative Dentistry: common questions
Do you use silver fillings?
We discuss the material options for your case. Tooth-coloured composite is used for many fillings; the right choice depends on where the tooth is and how much of it is missing.
How long does a crown last?
Many last a decade or more, but it depends on the tooth, the bite, hygiene and the material. No guarantee of a specific lifespan is realistic.
Can a cracked tooth be saved?
Sometimes. It depends on how deep the crack runs and whether it reaches the nerve. We will assess it and tell you honestly if the tooth is not restorable.
What if I need a root canal as well?
That is decided during treatment. If the nerve is involved, we will explain why and quote the additional step before continuing.
